The counselors make Camp Isaiah special. The people who give up their time, jobs, money and family to attend camp are Camp Isaiah’s greatest resource. Over the years Camp Isaiah has been blessed with some of the best counselors any camp could ask for. While a core group of counselors provides the planning and direction of the camp, it is possible to become a part of Camp Isaiah as a counselor for the Middle and High school camp.

Camp Isaiah - becoming a counselor

Some commitment, details, and expectations to being a counselor at Camp Isaiah are as follows:

  • Camp Isaiah is a Christian Distance running camp. Therefore it is important that camp counselors be mature and grounded in their faith in Jesus Christ, as they will be in a position of spiritual leadership while at camp (see Statement of Faith). In addition, it is important, but not necessarily mandatory, that counselors have a background in the sport of running.
  • Counselors will be strongly encouraged to fund raise up to and beyond the cost for them to be at camp. The cost for a camp counselor for the week is $250.00. While this is not mandatory to be a part of camp, it will help out tremendously if Camp Isaiah’s leadership can aid in its fundraising efforts. For more info on donating see the Donations page.
  • Counselors will be expected to attend one full week or session of camp.
  • Counselors will be expected to lead or co-lead discussions on faith and life in a small group setting while at camp.
  • Counselors will be expected to run or hike a few miles everyday with the campers and be responsible for their well being during that time.
  • Counselors will be expected to stay up late and play cards with other counselors…Hearts and Spades and sometimes “no money poker”. (This is an unofficial expectation and subject to change.)
  • Counselors will be expected to be good leaders, stay up late, get very little sleep and have a tremendous amount of fun.
(This is an official expectation and is not subject to change…its camp, that’s all we can say.)
